Oracle Cloud IAM Identity Domains are a fundamental part of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) that help manage and secure user identities and access within the cloud environment. It provide a structured approach to handle authentication, authorization, and user lifecycle management.Why Do We Need Custom IAM Identity Domains
IAM Identity Domains are very crucial for keeping cloud resources secure. It allows organizations to set rules, manage user roles, and safeguard important data. This helps simplify identity management and lowers the risk of unauthorized access.
Different Domain Types
Oracle Cloud offers several domain types, including primary
domains, secondary domains, and custom domains. Each type serves specific
purposes, such as managing different organizational units or supporting unique
security requirements.
There are additional domain types that OCI offers which are:
a. Free Domain Type
b. Oracle Apps Premium
c. Premium
d. External User
Steps to create Custom Domain
Open the navigation menu and click Identity &
Security. Under Identity, click Domains.
Under List scope, select the compartment in which you want
to create the identity domain.
Click Create domain.
On the Create domain page, enter a display
name for the domain, using only letters, numerals, hyphens, periods, or
underscores. The name can contain up to 100 characters.
